There has never been a more important time to get involved in Grassroots Advocacy at the PBA. With countless laws and regulations threatening the banking industry, lawmakers need to hear from Pennsylvania’s Bankers now more than ever!
The PBA Grassroots Advocacy Program is an organized way for local bankers to present the banking industry's views on issues to their legislators. These personal contacts supplement the industry views as presented by the PBA, and provide legislators with information about the effect of a proposal on their constituents. The PBA's Grassroots Advocacy Program will involve bankers throughout Pennsylvania, who will volunteer to be a Grassroots Advocate or point of contact for PBA at their financial institution and encourage fellow bankers to take action on issues that affect our industry.
Involvement by bankers can mean a world of difference. PBA's staff lobbyists can do a great deal, but they cannot as effectively bring three aspects to Legislators: the local view, local votes, and sheer numbers. Each bank employee, officer and director is a legislator's constituent. Often times the first question a legislator asks when presented with any issue is "What does this mean to the voters at home?"
PBA Bankers are vital to the success of any legislative battle in Harrisburg and your participation in the PBA Grassroots Advocacy Program is one of the most important investments you can make in your bank's future, and the future of banking in Pennsylvania.
